Five Things to Look Out For When Hiring a Wedding Photographer in Perth

As a Perth Wedding Photographer, I have noticed many photographers in Perth offering photography packages for weddings.

This list covers three main points on what to look out for when hiring a photographer for your wedding.

Your wedding is one of the most memorable days of your life, so you want to make sure you will get photos that you will be able to enjoy for many years to come.

1. Make sure your wedding photographer will blend in.

This day is about you - you don't want a photographer with lots of gear, too much lighting, and flashes to take the attention away from you.

You have to go by your feeling after talking to the photographer about what their personality is like. Ideally, you want to find someone who is thoughtful, humble, and there to serve you and not to show off.

2. Ask for a price straight up.

A good wedding photographer will be clear on the price of the service and what exactly you get in return. The price breakdown should include hours for how long you will have them on the day and an editing breakdown of what you will receive.

It is common for many wedding photographers to ask for a small deposit before the wedding day, so be prepared for this.

3. Look at their previous work.

You want to find a photographer who will capture your wedding in a way that you will be happy with the results. Everyone has different preferences for style. Generally, photos are able to be edited to match your chosen aesthetic.

Most photographers bring their own 'flavour.'

For me, I draw on my background as a commercial cinematographer to capture photos with layers and depth candidly and naturally. My focus is on using the correct lens to capture the most flattering images while utilising natural light the best.

This skill has evolved over 13 years as a commercial cinematographer, so it comes easy to me and something that I very much enjoy.
